Visit of St. Joseph Boys’ High School 77 Batch Representatives to St. Joseph School, Panditha Halli 22nd June 2024 On 22nd June 2024, representatives and leaders from the 1977 batch of St. Joseph Boys’ High School (SJBHS) visited St. Joseph School, Panditha Halli. The visitors were warmly welcomed by our correspondent, Fr. Pradeep, the Principal, and the Kindergarten children. After a thorough inspection of the entire campus and classrooms, the group discussed several initiatives and plans aimed at contributing to the overall development of the school and enhancing the educational experience for the children at St. Joseph School, Panditha Halli (SH-PH). Their goal is to make a significant difference in the lives of the students. Key initiatives discussed include: Contribution of Books to the Library: To encourage reading habits among the children, the 77 batch of SJBHS decided to contribute library books and other resource materials to the school. This initiative will help foster a culture of reading and group reading practices. Volunteers will also be recruited to assist students in learning how to use the library effectively and to guide them in reading books in a structured manner. Collaboration with Teach for India (TFI): The group suggested reaching out to Teach for India (TFI) to bring in a volunteer teacher, which would further enhance the quality of education and provide more individualized attention to the students. Development of Martial Arts/Karate Program: The 77 batch representatives proposed inviting Mr. Malatesh, a karate instructor, to the school. Two levels of training will be offered: basic training for all children in the morning and advanced training in the afternoon. This initiative aims to promote physical fitness and self-discipline among the students. Enhancing Club Activities: It was suggested that the school’s clubs be made more interesting and relevant to the students’ interests, thereby fostering creativity and leadership skills. Promotion of Sports Culture: The group emphasized the importance of building a strong sports culture at the school. The initial step will be to provide basic sports facilities, including basketball, football, and hockey grounds. Later, a cricket net and practice training center will be established. Physical Exercise Facilities: Mr. Sanjay suggested the installation of various physical exercise facilities to encourage students to stay fit and active. The plan is to ensure that these facilities are accessible and used regularly by the students. In addition to these initiatives, the visit was attended by Mr. Shiv Prakash, the former Physical Education (PE) instructor at SJBHS, as well as SJBHS 77 batchmates Sunil Dalwani, Glenn Rego, Sudhakar Rao, and Prapanch Mandana, who showed keen interest in addressing various issues related to the school’s development. Medical and Health Check-up: Batch & SJBHS has decided to organize and coordinate a comprehensive health check-up for both students and staff, including teaching and non-teaching faculties. The plan is to invite doctors specialized in general medicine, dentistry, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), speech and hearing, as well as a special session dedicated to girls, focusing on personal hygiene and general healthcare. This initiative aims to ensure the well-being of all students and staff members. As a part of their primary initiative, the 77 batch donated over 300 library books to the school as an initial contribution. The day was spent productively, with a shared commitment to supporting the growth and betterment of the children at St. Joseph School, Panditha Halli.
